I’m honestly considering leaving tumblr altogether because no one fucking knows what dysphoria is
Dysphoria has nothing to do with gender roles and it has nothing to do with the sexualization of the female body
It is a MENTAL ILLNESS, it is a form of BODY DYSMORPHIA, and it has nothing to do with gendered socialization or the way society treats women. And I’m fucking tired of people, rightly raging against gender, but calling the harm inflicted upon them by gender roles “dysphoria”
I swear to God I’m gonna start calling this shit out when I see it. Stop belittling my ILLNESS because you don’t know what it is.
This is by no means exclusive to genderist groups. I see radfems all the time say that they experience dysphoria, but then when they elaborate they’re often just describing the damage that gender has done them. That’s not what dysphoria is!
If gender were to stop existing and everyone could live as they pleased, many of those women would no longer experience what they say is Dysphoria.
But the abolition of gender will not cure genuine sex dysphoria, because genuine sex dysphoria affects how we view our physical sex characteristics. It has nothing to do with gender!!!
